Portrait commissions

In 2021, 2023 and 2025 I was nominated for The Dutch Portrait Prize, the most prestigious biennial for Portrait Art in The Netherlands. The selection is very strict: of about 1000 candidates, each time 40 2D-artworks and 10 3D-artworks are nominated by a jury of 7 experts and exhibited during the summer months in the castle of Zeist. My portrait of professor dr. Constantijn Kelk, which I made on commission for the Willem Pompe Institute, will also be on show there from the 6th of June until the 31st of August 2025. In 2022 I was selected for the international exhibition of The Society of British Portrait Sculptors in London.

The making of a portrait on commission starts with an comprehensive initial interview during which the sculpting process and the different possibilities are discussed extensively. A bronze portrait is more expensive than a ceramic portrait. The initial interview is without any obligation. After reflecting on it, you can decide for a commission.

Sculptures: free artworks

My sources of inspiration can be visual or emotional images stemming from my inner world or touching visual impressions from the outer world. During the sculpting process I search for beauty and harmony, which usually are hard to find in the chaos and hectics of daily life. It may take long before I finish this quest. With the sculpture which has thus come into existence, I wish to offer the spectator a moment of reflection, beauty and peace.
